Series I — Citrus Marking Practice

The first room of ALASKA is a durational marking practice performed on citrus fruits using a tattoo machine, needle and ink.

Before marking, you observe. The fruit's pores, cracks and irregularities show you where to go. The fruit guides the gesture — not the other way around.

Each time the needle is re-inked, you pause. You close your eyes. You breathe the scent. You return.

With each puncture, aromatic oils release into the air. The atmosphere shifts. Attention narrows. The body settles.

Over time, the marked fruits dry, contract and deform. The inscription remains. The organic matter transforms around it.

Permanence meeting decay.

Six sessions completed. Berlin, 2025. Archive in progress.

Alaska.

A sensory refuge.

— a developing physical and architectural environment imagining a future where a quiet place is something rare and necessary. Each room is structured around a specific practice of attention. The citrus marking practice is its first operational system. Other rooms are coming.

A space to feel present.

A tattoo machine. A citrus fruit. No gloves. No music. No competing scent. The only soundtrack is the machine. The only perfume, the fruit.
